Thousands rally to demand the impeachment of Brazil’s president

Thousands of people in the Brazilian capital Brasilia on Saturday took part in protests calling for the impeachment of President Jair Bolsonaro and his government.

According to local media, the capital, Brasilia, and 21 other regions of the country witnessed anti-government protests and demanded the import of more vaccines against the Coronavirus.

The demonstrators blamed Bolsonaro for the deaths of more than half a million people with the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic, chanting slogans against the government and demanding the removal of the president.

It is noteworthy that President Bolsonaro has been the subject of controversy due to his disregard for the virus and his measures since the beginning of the epidemic.

And last April, a parliamentary commission of inquiry was set up in the Senate to investigate whether the government had neglected its duties regarding necessary measures during the pandemic.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 520,000 people have died from the virus, while the number of infections has reached 18.7 million in Brazil.
