Appeal to donate plasma and blood from the Turkish Red Crescent

Due to Ramadan and the coronavirus epidemic, there is a decrease in blood donation and immune plasma stores.

Which called on the Turkish Red Crescent citizens to donate blood and plasma.

Although the new type of Coronavirus (COVID-19) slows the flow of daily life, the need for blood and immune plasma continues.

The Turkish Red Crescent has called on citizens to donate due to the decrease in blood and plasma donations during the month of Ramadan.

It was also reminded that donors are exempt from curfew during hours and weekends.

Also, the need for blood increases for those who save lives by donating immune plasma.

“When you give one unit of blood, you get three lives”

Turkish Red Crescent President Karim Kınık emphasized the importance of donating blood and said:

“Blood is a tissue that cannot be done in laboratories, however, it can be cured if given to a person.

Blood is not an urgent need, but it is an ongoing need.

Our blood donations and the national blood stock decrease, especially with the impact of the global epidemic and worrying Ramadan, and they require a call for national mobilization.

We have arranged them according to the times of Iftar and Suhoor.

So when you give one unit of blood, you get 3 lives as you plant seedlings in nature”.

There are only 1099 units of immune plasma stock

Those wishing to donate can find the closest blood center to them and make an appointment from the Red Crescent website, and the call center number 168.

It was regulated by observing the hours of Iftar and Suhoor during the month of Ramadan so that patients who are waiting for blood urgently are not exposed to any harm.

Donors exempt from curfew restrictions on weekends and after 19:00 PM can come to the blood and donate centers within 15 minutes.

In the statement indicating that the need for immune plasma is also high due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, it stated that there are only 1,099 units of immune plasma stock.
