81,222 houses were sold in Turkey during February

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TSI) announced the housing sales statistics for February.

Accordingly, housing sales across Turkey decreased by 31.6 percent in February compared to the same month of last year, which amounted to 81,222.

The number of homes sold in February increased by 15.06% compared to January. As 70,587 homes were sold in January.

Istanbul has the largest share of sales

Istanbul had the highest share of 15 thousand 929 sales, or 19.6%.

It is followed by Ankara with 7,757 of home sales and a share of 9.6 per cent, and Izmir with 4, thousand 659 of homes sold and a share of 5.7 per cent.

The governorates with the lowest number of housing sales were Bayport with 27, Ardahan with 31, and Tongili with 34, respectively.

Mortgage sales decreased by 66.5 percent

In February, mortgaged home sales fell 66.5% compared to the same month of the previous year, down to 14,669.

The share of mortgage sales in total home sales was 18.1 percent.

In mortgage sales, Istanbul ranked first with 3 thousand 174 home sales and a 21.6% share.

The two governorates with the lowest mortgage sales were Bayport and Hakkari, with only one home sold in each.
