Turkey completed building security walls along 1,005 kilometers of its borders, equivalent to 34 percent of its total land borders, by last September.
The annual program of the Turkish presidency for 2022 stipulated that the draft border security system aims to prevent illegal immigration and illegal transit to and from the country’s territory.
The data of the Turkish presidential program showed the completion of the construction of the wall along 837 km of the total southern border, which is 1,295 km long.
On the eastern border of the country, which has a total length of 1182 km, Turkey has completed the construction of the wall, with a length of 168 km.
Turkey launched the border security system project in 2015 following the increasing waves of asylum and irregular migration, as well as smuggling.
