17 women attend the United Nations General Assembly this year

Of the 191 heads of state, government, and ministers participating in the United Nations General Assembly, only 17 women participated this year.

At the 76th United Nations General Assembly this year, there were 11 times more male leaders than female leaders.

As their leaders discussed global issues from the climate crisis to the coronavirus pandemic from Afghanistan, which is on the world’s agenda.

Farhan Haq, a spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said only 17 of the 191 heads of state, government, and ministers at the summit this year are women.

In 2020, only 9 women leaders were represented at the UN summit, and Myanmar and Afghanistan were among the countries that did not speak at the summit this year.
