The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Şentop, congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart, Gvarova, for regaining Baku control over the city of Lachin, following the evacuation of the Armenian occupation.
This came in a telephone call, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Turkish Parliament on Sunday.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, especially Azerbaijan’s restoration of control over Lachin and the villages of Zabukh and Sus.
Şentop expressed his happiness at the return of Lachin, congratulating his counterpart on this occasion.
On Friday, Azerbaijani soldiers raised the flag of their country in the city of Lachin, after extending their control over it following the departure of Russian units and Armenian settlers under an agreement in this regard.
On November 10, 2020, Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia signed a tripartite agreement following the victory of Azerbaijani forces over their Armenian counterparts in the Karabakh region.
