The Turkish Interior Ministry announced the deportation of 9,000 foreign terrorist fighters of 102 different nationalities to their countries since 2011.

A statement issued by the Ministry’s Migration Department said on Tuesday that with the start of the Syrian crisis in 2011, many citizens of other countries tried to join the ranks of the “ISIS” and “YPG / PKK” terrorist organization there, seeking to move to Syria by coming to Turkey.

He added that the Turkish authorities arrested thousands of them and applied legal procedures against them.

In this context, the Turkish authorities have deported 9,000 foreign terrorists of 102 different nationalities to their countries since 2011.

With regard to the nationalities of foreign terrorists, the statement clarified that the citizens of the European Union ranked first with 1,109 terrorists, followed by the Americans with 59.

He pointed out that in the first 7 months of this year, 20 foreign terrorists belonging to 6 countries in the European Union were deported.
