On Monday, the Israeli military announced the arrest of a person overnight, who it said had attempted to infiltrate by sea from Lebanon.

The army said in a tweet on Twitter: “During the night, the Israeli army spotted a suspect across the maritime border by swimming from Lebanon to Israeli territory.”

He added: “An Israeli army boat rushed to the site after spotting the suspect, and the Israeli army arrested the suspect near the crossing.”

The army indicated that the suspect (whose nationality was not specified) was not armed and that he was being questioned.

There was no immediate comment from the Lebanese side on what the Israeli army said.

In recent weeks, the Israeli army announced several infiltrations across the Lebanese and Jordanian borders but indicated that the majority of the infiltrators were foreigners looking for job opportunities.
