Turkey’s Beşiktaş fell at home and among their fans against Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon 4-1 on Tuesday in Group C of the Champions League.
Sporting Lisbon opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates.
However, Canadian cyle Larin equalized Besiktas in the 24th minute after a pass from Bosnian Miralem Pjanic.
Just three minutes later, Coates returned to put his team ahead by scoring a second goal.
And this was before the referee awarded a penalty kick to the Lisbon team in the 44th minute, as Pablo Sarabia translated it for a third goal.
Beşiktaş appeared better in the second half and was close to reducing the difference on more than one occasion.
This is amid Sporting’s retreat to its back areas and relied on the rebounds, one of which added the fourth goal in the 89th minute.
With this, Beşiktaş remained in fourth and last place without any point after suffering its third defeat in a row.
While Sporting Lisbon managed to achieve its first victory and became third with 3 points.
Ajax Amsterdam leads the Dutch group with 6 points, accompanied by German Borussia Dortmund, who is behind on the goal difference.
Ajax will meet Dortmund in an upcoming match to break the partnership for the lead on Tuesday at the “Johan Cruyff Arena” in Amsterdam.
