Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank announced that his country occupies the third place among the largest producers of solar panels in the world and aims to rise to the second place.
This came in a speech he delivered on Saturday during his participation in the inauguration ceremony of a factory for the production of solar panels in the Organized Industrial Zone in the state of Qirikkale in central Turkey.
“Turkey is currently the third largest producer of solar panels in the world,” Varank said. “We are currently producing about 8 gigawatts of solar panels.”
The Turkish minister added: “Our goal, God willing, is to be in second place in the world as of next year.”
