Turkey.. Fog stops the movement of ships in the Dardanelles

The Turkish authorities closed the Çanakkale “Dardanelles” Strait to ships passing in both directions due to thick fog.

The fog, which increased its impact in the strait at midnight and continued until morning, caused a decrease in the level of horizontal visibility.

The Department of Ship Traffic Services in the Strait announced that the captains of ships coming from the north and south were warned by radio and that the strait was closed to transit ships in both directions.

The Turkish authorities also suspended ferry services between the Labski and Gallipoli regions of the state due to the fog.
