Kılıçdaroğlu: I want the mayors to continue their duties in Turkey

“I want our mayors to continue their duties,” CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said regarding the presidential candidacy for mayors.

Iyi Party Chairman Meral Aksener has given the green light for the presidential candidacy of Ekrem Imamoglu and Mansur Yavas.

 However, the head of the Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, declared that he did not want to nominate the mayors of Ankara and Istanbul in the 2023 presidential elections, and explained his reasons.

 “I want the mayors to continue in their duties. First of all, we do not have a majority in the municipal councils. And where there is no majority, we have handed over the mayor to another party.

Then what will the people of Istanbul say? What will the people of Ankara tell us? In front of them.

They work. In that period of time and gain experience and show themselves in good areas. I want them to continue their duties in this framework.”
