Istanbul airport is the busiest in Europe

Istanbul International Airport topped the list of the busiest airports in Europe during the period between 15-21 May.

According to the report of the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation EUROCONTROL, the average number of flights at Istanbul Airport reached 1401 during the mentioned period.

The Turkish airport was followed by Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam with 1330 flights per day, then Heathrow Airport in London with 1302 flights per day.

Istanbul Airport was established on an area of 76.5 million square meters, and about 10,000 workers worked in its construction, and the construction of the other stages of it is scheduled to be completed by 2025.

The new airport consists of 6 runways and has a capacity of 500 aircraft. It is equipped with an open and closed garage that can accommodate about 70,000 cars.

After the completion of all phases of the airport, the capacity will reach 200 million passengers annually.
