Erdogan: More than a million Syrians are ready for voluntary return

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that studies show that the number of Syrian refugees willing to return voluntarily from Turkey to their country is much more than one million.

This came in a speech addressed to the people after presiding over the government meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.

President Erdoğan added: “There is no doubt that the number of Syrians in our country will decrease to reasonable levels whenever we provide the necessary capabilities for voluntary return.”

He pointed out that Turkey is working to establish 200,000 housing units in 13 areas on Syrian territory, with funding from international relief organizations.

He added, “The studies of our institutions show that the number of refugees willing to return voluntarily (to Syria) is much more than a million.”

On the other hand, President Erdogan pointed out that the number of irregular migrants that Turkey has returned to their country since 2016 has exceeded 320,000.
