The state of Antalya, the capital of Turkish tourism bordering the Mediterranean, has set a new record for visitors during the first two months of this year.
The number of incoming tourism to Antalya exceeded 388 thousand tourists, most of them are foreigners, during the first two months of this year, while the state received during the same period last year 299.17 thousand tourists, including 252.2 thousand foreigners, according to the data of the Directorate of Culture and Tourism in the state.
In terms of nationalities of tourists, Russian tourists ranked first on the list of foreigners most visited to the Turkish state, with 103.9 thousand tourists, while the state aims to receive more than 6 million tourists from them by the end of 2020.
Antalya, which aims to receive 18 million tourists, by the end of 2020, has achieved a growth in the number of visitors during the first two months of 2020, by 30 percent, compared to the same period last year.
During 2019, Turkey ranked sixth in the world by receiving tourists, after 52.5 million visitors visited it, according to the World Tourism Organization.
Earlier, the Turkish Hotels Association announced that the tourism sector in Turkey aims to receive more than 57 million tourists by the end of this year, amid expectations that the sector will achieve record growth.
