Turkey set a new record in the field of electricity generation from wind energy, reaching the highest level on a monthly basis.
The share of wind energy in total electricity generation has exceeded 10%.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez announced on his Twitter account the following words:
“Our winds are blowing in record numbers in 2021 as well. For the first time in history, the electricity generated from wind power exceeded 10% on a monthly basis. We got 10.7% of the electricity we produced in January from the cold winds of Anatolia.”

Half of the electricity produced from domestic and renewable sources in January
According to the data that was shared on the Twitter account of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the installed capacity increased by 380 megawatts compared to the previous month and reached 96,271 megawatts.
The share of local and renewable resources in installed energy was announced at 63.7 percent.
49.5 percent of the electricity production in January was also provided by domestic and renewable sources.
