Turkey ranked third in the world in the number of beaches bearing the blue flag, with 519 beaches.
This came in a tweet by the Minister of Environment and Urban Development, Murat kurum, on Twitter on Thursday.
kurum said that Turkey maintains the quality of its seas and increases its quality for one year from one year, thanks to its investments in the environmental field.

“As a result, the number of our beaches bearing the blue flag, which is an indication of the cleanliness of the seas, has increased,” he added.
And he added that Turkey ranked third in the world in the number of Blue Flag beaches in 2021, with 519 beaches.
He stressed that his country aims to ascend the center stage in 2023.
The number of beaches bearing the blue flag in Turkey has increased dramatically in recent years, as it was only 6 in 1994.
It reached 463 in 2019 and 486 beaches in 2020, ranking third in the world after Spain and Greece.
The Blue Flag is a certificate awarded to environmentally safe beaches by the International Environmental Education Foundation (FEE), based in Copenhagen.
The blue flag is awarded according to 32 special criteria such as the quality and cleanliness of marine waters.
In addition to the activities aimed at environmental awareness, caring for environmental management, the quality of services provided, in addition to the security provided in tourist areas.
