A statement by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry stated on Wednesday that Minister Wahid Kirishji will participate, during the period from 15 to 17 December, in an international conference on biological diversity in Canada.

The statement indicated that Turkey is ready to assume the presidency of the “Convention on Biological Diversity” between 2024 and 2026, as it will receive it from China during the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16) to be held in Turkey.

It should be noted that Turkey signed the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity in 1996, and today it is one of the most active countries among the 196 signatories to the Convention.
