Turkey aims to produce 100,000 tons of “kiwifruit” in 2023

Kiwi fruit growers in about 30 Turkish states aim to produce more than 100,000 tons next year.

Arslan Sweidan, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture in Turkey, said that kiwi production in the country began in 1988.

Sweidan confirmed that kiwi cultivation in Turkey is currently spreading in the regions of the Marmara, Mediterranean and Black seas.

He pointed out that the amount of kiwi production in Turkey during the current year amounted to 90 thousand tons.

He expected the kiwi contribution to the Turkish economy to reach about 800 million liras (a dollar equals about 18.6 liras).

He explained that the target amount of production in the country during the next year is more than 100,000 tons, thanks to government support.
