The White House: We see Turkey as a reliable ally

White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre said that the United States views Turkey as a “reliable ally.”

This came in a press conference held at the White House on Wednesday evening.

In response to a question about the Turkish position on Finland and Sweden’s membership in NATO, Jean-Pierre said, “It would be right for the Turkish government to make a statement on this matter.”

She added that the United States viewed Turkey as a “reliable ally.”

In a related context, the US spokeswoman confirmed her country’s support for Finland and Sweden’s membership in NATO as soon as possible.

On June 28, 2022, Turkey, Sweden and Finland signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding regarding the accession of the latter two countries to NATO, after the two European countries pledged to respond to Ankara’s demands regarding cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
