The Pentagon: We will send an additional 500 soldiers to Europe

A senior Pentagon official said Monday that Secretary Lloyd Austin has directed an additional 500 troops to Europe.

In a statement directed to the press, he added that Russia has brought almost all of its forces currently deployed around Ukraine to the last territories.

The official, who was not named, indicated that the Russian army has so far fired more than 625 missiles at Ukraine.

He explained that with this batch of American forces, the total number of American soldiers in Europe reached about 100 thousand.

The US official added that this force will be sent tonight to the “Sawada” base in Greece, as well as a maintenance unit to Germany and other logistical support units.

The US official confirmed the authenticity of reports that Russia had recruited fighters from Syria to fight in Ukraine.

“We know that the Russians are trying to recruit Syrians for war,” the official added.

At the dawn of last February 24, Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, which was followed by angry international reactions and the imposition of “tough” economic and financial sanctions on Moscow.
