The largest zoo in Turkey targets 6 million visitors annually

Gaziantep Zoo, the largest of its kind in Turkey, targets 6 million visitors after completing the development projects it is currently witnessing.

The park, located in the southern state of Gaziantep, was opened in 2001 and extends over an area of one million square meters and includes 4,000 animals of 350 species.

The park is currently witnessing several projects to develop and expand its activities, most notably the establishment of a tunnel-shaped aquarium and a natural park dedicated to African animals.

Celal Ozcilar, head of the Natural Life Protection Department in the Greater Gaziantep Municipality, said that approximately 3.7 million people visited the park during 2023.

He stressed that this number could rise until the end of this year, pointing out that the year 2022 witnessed the park receiving 5 million visitors.

He stressed that after completing the current development projects in the park, they aim to receive 6 million visitors annually starting next year, 2024.
