Qatar announced on Thursday the appointment of its first ambassador to Egypt since the outbreak of the Gulf crisis in mid-2017.
According to a statement by the Amiri Diwan, the Emir of the country, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, issued a decision appointing new ambassadors to Turkey, Egypt, Libya, and Cyprus.

The decision included “appointing Mohammed bin Nasser bin Jassim as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Turkey, and Salem bin Mubarak bin Shafi as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Egypt.”
It also included “the appointment of Ali Youssef Abdul Rahman Al-Mulla as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cyprus (Al-Rumiya), and Khaled Muhammad Zabin Al Zabin Al-Dosari as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Libya,” according to the same source.
This is the first time that Doha has appointed an ambassador to Cairo since the beginning of the Gulf crisis and the severing of relations between Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain on one side and Qatar on the other in June 2017.

On June 23, Egypt announced the appointment of an extraordinary ambassador to Qatar as part of the resumption of relations between them following the Al-Ula summit and the Gulf reconciliation agreement last January.
The Egyptian-Qatari relations witnessed positive steps after the signing of the “Al-Ola Statement” in Saudi Arabia, which brought down the curtain on the Gulf crisis.
