Rome.. Istanbul will host the 2027 European Games


The Italian capital, Rome, witnessed on Thursday the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding regarding the Turkish city of Istanbul hosting the 2027 European Games.

From the Turkish side, the signing ceremony was attended by the Mayor of the Greater Istanbul Municipality, Ekrem Imamoglu, and Ali Kiramicioglu, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee.

In a speech during the ceremony, Imamoglu called on all European athletes to participate in the 2027 European Games, which will be held in Istanbul.

He continued: “When you come to Istanbul, you will not only practice your sports, but you will have the opportunity to live the best days of your life in a city full of excitement.”

He added: “We are working to host one of the most important sporting events in Istanbul, which is one of the oldest cities in the world and was the capital of three empires and has a historical depth that extends back 8,500 years.”
