According to the Turkish Defense Ministry, the conversation between Akar and Lloyd Austin took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere.

Turkey recently offered to protect and manage Hamid Karzai International Airport after the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, and is now consulting with the United States on political, logistical and financial support for the mission.

Some time ago, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that Joe Biden and Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed at the NATO summit that Turkey would play a major role in securing Kabul airport after the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
