This came in a speech during his participation in the 12th meeting of the Transport and Communications Council at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul.
President Erdoğan explained that successive AKP governments have raised the number of airports in Turkey from 26 to 56 (since 2002), and are determined to increase their number to 61.
He noted that “Istanbul Airport is the second-best in the world and the first in the list of the most densely populated airports in Europe.”
And he added, “Through our investments and the successes we have achieved in air transport, we have come very close to our goal of not leaving any destination we have not reached, whether inside or outside the country.”
