President Erdogan affirmed that protecting the values for which the Turks sacrificed is the task of all the people, sympathizing with the souls of the 253 Turkish martyrs who died while confronting the putschists on the night of July 15, 2016.

On the night of the coup attempt, the Turkish people proved, according to Erdogan, that their determination and persistence protected their independence once again.

In order to commemorate the response to the coup attempt, Erdogan cited the saying of the late Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic: “If ethnic cleansing is forgotten, it will be revived again.”

He also cited the saying of the author of the Turkish national anthem, poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy: “History repeats itself for those who do not learn from history.”

President Erdogan indicated that there are turning points in the history of peoples, and July 15 for Turkey is a historical turning point.

He said, “July 15 is our dignity and a badge of honor for us. July 15 is a declaration of national will and a declaration of independence.”

President Erdogan praised the heroism of the Turkish people in confronting the putschists, especially those who left their political affiliations aside and took to the squares for the sake of their homeland.

He added, “As long as this front that saved Turkey from occupation remains, God willing, no one can put shackles on the will of the people.”

The Turkish president pointed out that the failed coup was an attempt to occupy Turkey through the bombing carried out by the putschists.

In this regard, he stated: “They bombed the Presidency of the Republic, which is the home of the people, they bombed the Grand National Assembly in which the will of the people is manifested, and they bombed the National Intelligence and Special Operations building and the Ankara Security Directorate and other institutions. The traitors did not only seek to overthrow the government, but also targeted the symbols of the republic.” Turkish”.

President Erdogan made it clear that Turkey became stronger when it got rid of the “FETÖ” terrorists, especially in the fight against the “PKK” terrorists inside and outside the country.

After the Turkish President’s speech, the names of the 253 martyrs who died on the night of the coup attempt were mentioned, then verses from the Holy Qur’an were recited, then a supplication from the Head of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbash, for the souls of the martyrs.
