Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that the agreement to ship grain from Ukraine, which was sponsored by Ankara, is an important diplomatic success for his country, even if the Turkish opposition did not realize its importance.

This came in a speech to the people on Monday after presiding over a government meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.
Concerning the grain agreement, Erdogan said, “This initiative, which began with the leadership of our country, represents an important diplomatic success, even if the opposition cannot realize how important it is.”

And earlier today, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the first ship loaded with corn left the Ukrainian port of Odessa under the grain shipping agreement, bound for Lebanon.
