British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said on Wednesday that Turkey is an indispensable partner of the United Kingdom.
This came in a joint press conference held with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan at the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara.
Cleverly stated that during the meeting issues related to strengthening the relationship between the two countries were discussed, adding: “Turkey is an indispensable partner for us and the United Kingdom.”
He stressed that the relationship between the two countries has become closer compared to the past, and said, “This year, more than 4 million British citizens are expected to visit your country.”

He pointed out that there is a very important Turkish community consisting of half a million citizens living in the United Kingdom, indicating that they “also contribute to our prosperity and the vitality of our country and our society,” and that trade between the two countries is gradually growing.
Cleverly stressed that the two countries will continue to work together, explaining that they will continue to work as allies to confront the important and difficult challenges the world is witnessing.
In appreciation of Ankara’s efforts to revive the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Cleverly stressed that the UK’s relations with Turkey are very important.
The British Foreign Secretary added: “Turkey is very important for our common security and prosperity and is important to Europe, the region and the entire world.”
