Çanakkale… Rescue of 47 migrants pushed by Greece towards Turkey


On Thursday, the Turkish Coast Guard rescued 47 migrants who were pushed by the Greek authorities towards the Turkish territorial waters off the coast of Ayvacik district in the state of Çanakkale (west).

Security sources said that coast guard teams received a report that a group of migrants was on a rubber boat.


The sources indicated that upon their arrival to the area, the teams rescued 47 irregular migrants, and it was found that the Greek coast guard pushed them into Turkish waters.

The teams handed over the migrants to the Aliens Repatriation Center in Aywajik District, Çanakkale State, to complete their legal procedures.
