Biden administration appoints official against election threats

The Biden administration has appointed an intelligence coordinator to respond to potential election threats.

Nicole D. Haye, a spokeswoman for Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, announced that Jeffrey Weishman has been appointed as the “election threats officer.”

De Hai said Jeffrey Weishman has worked with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for more than 30 years, including on major counterintelligence and cyber missions.

The Electoral Threat Officer will be responsible for coordinating all election security efforts within the 18-member intelligence community.

It is noteworthy that the efforts of the intelligence units to detect and deter all cyber attacks will be carried out in coordination with the newly appointed official.
