The wife of Turkish President Emine Erdogan expressed her thanks to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood in the Emirates, for her support for Turkey following the earthquake that struck the south of the country.

She said in a tweet Thursday: “I would like to thank Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the mother of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed, and the Emirati people for their support of the Bridges of Giving campaign.”

“We will overcome this disaster with the solidarity of friendly peoples,” she added.

Erdogan also thanked Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the mother of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, and all the Qatari people for their support of Turkey.

“We will always remember the friendship of the countries that extended a helping hand to Turkey,” she said in a separate tweet.

And she continued, “I thank Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the mother of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, and the sons of Qatar who supported the aid campaign and participated in the march that was organized to support the victims of the earthquake.”

On February 6, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 degrees and the second 7.6 degrees, and thousands of violent aftershocks, which caused great losses in lives and property in both countries.
