About an hour after the outage began, Amazon announced that it had identified the source of the problem and was working to fix it.
It was learned that because of the issue, Amazon’s cloud computing services to universities, government, and news agencies had stopped, and had problems accessing Instacart, Venmo, Kindle, Roku Disney, and McDonald’s apps.
Facebook and its affiliated services also suffered a massive 6-hour outage on October 4, and the company’s shares plunged 5 percent.
