Akar: The Turkish army was the only one that fought ISIS on the ground

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar stressed that only his country’s army had fought ISIS terrorists head-on and achieved great successes.

In a speech during his participation in a session on the sidelines of the 13th conference of Turkish ambassadors in the capital Ankara, he explained that the armed forces’ foreign operations aim to combat terrorism, secure the country’s borders and protect its citizens from terrorist attacks and attacks.

He continued, “Through Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria, we neutralized 4,500 terrorists from ISIS, and unfortunately our Western allies did not show solidarity in the fight against the YPG / PKK organization as they showed in the fight against ISIS.”

Akar pointed out that the world is going through a very sensitive period and that the responsibilities of the Turkish Armed Forces have increased during this period.

He indicated that the Turkish army is working day and night to protect the country’s borders and that the latest technology is used in this regard.

With regard to the fight against PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, Akar confirmed that the Turkish forces target terrorist elements in that region only, indicating that the Kurds are brothers of the Turks.
