Recording statement from Zarif: I had no goal of demoting Qassem Soleimani

Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif testified before the Parliament’s National Security Committee regarding the leak of the press tape.

Regarding his statements about the killing of the former commander of the Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, Minister Zarif said: “I had no aim in insulting Qassem Soleimani.”

The audio recording of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif criticizing the murdered former Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani and the Revolutionary Guards has sparked major reactions in Iran.

Zarif responded to the parliamentary National Security Council’s questions on the matter, saying, “I did not try to humiliate Qassem Soleimani with what I said.”

He also retracted the words he used against the Revolutionary Guards, “Diplomacy was sacrificed for the sake of the battlefield and the army.”

The Iranian minister made a statement in which he said: “I have not separated diplomacy from the field. I believe that challenge and diplomacy can provide our national struggle side by side in the best way.”

I will not be a candidate for the presidency

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif has confirmed that he will not be a candidate in the presidential elections.

Also, a Persian-language radio station from London, the capital of England, Iran International released the audio recording of Iranian economist Saeed Laylaz’s conversation with Zarif in March.

During the conversation, Zarif made important statements about domestic and foreign policy, criticizing the military structure in Iran and the former commander of the Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also confirmed the audio recording, but announced that the conversation was for the archive and not for publication.

The accident occurred between reformists and conservatives who had sided with Zarif in the country.
