Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his government is currently continuing to build more than 40,000 homes in Hatay province, which was struck by a devastating earthquake on February 6.
This came in a speech during his participation via video call on Saturday in an event to lay the foundation stone for urban transformation projects in Hatay Province, southern Turkey.
Erdogan expressed his thanks to the residents of Hatay for the support they provided him with their votes in the presidential elections that the country witnessed last May, indicating that the votes of 50.15 percent of the population of this state were for him.
The Turkish President affirmed the continuation of efforts to heal the wounds of those affected by the devastating earthquake in Hatay as well.

In this context, Erdogan explained that the government is currently continuing to build 40,400 homes in Hatay alone, including 32,600 apartments and 7,800 rural homes.
He added that the foundation stone for urban transformation projects in Hatay was laid today, indicating that with this they have begun building the city center after it was demolished by the earthquake.
The Turkish President confirmed that under the urban transformation projects launched today, the foundation stone for 5,000 additional homes will be laid in Hatay.
In a related context, Erdogan revealed incentives and banking facilities related to loans that the government will provide to those affected by the earthquake in Hatay in order to rebuild their demolished homes themselves if they wish.
In addition, the government will also provide homes as a gift to some citizens, in addition to exempting them from many taxes and fees related to building homes, according to what Erdogan said.
