Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday congratulated his compatriot, archer Mete Gazoz, on winning the World Archery Championship in the classic bow competition.
Erdogan said in a post on his social media accounts: “By winning the gold medal in the World Shooting Championships, you made the whole of Turkey feel very proud.”
And he continued, “I congratulate from the bottom of my heart our son Mete Gazoz, who wrote an epic in the sport of our ancestors, archery.”

The head of the communication department in the Turkish presidency, Fahrettin Altun, also expressed his congratulations to Gazoz on winning the championship.
On Sunday, Turkish archer Mete Gazoz won the World Archery Championship in the classic bow competition, after defeating his Canadian competitor Eric Peters, 6 points to 2, in the final held in the German capital, Berlin.
