The European Union expresses its condolences to Turkey

European Union officials published messages of condolences Saturday to Turkey for the victims of the mine explosion in the northern state of Barten.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the EU extends its deepest condolences to the Turkish people and the families of the victims.

In turn, the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhely expressed his deep sorrow over the deaths and wished to rescue those trapped in the mine as soon as possible.

In his letter, Varheli indicated the bloc’s readiness to provide assistance to Turkey.

Earlier, the President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel, published a letter of condolence, expressing his grief over the tragic incident.

Michel offered condolences to the people and government of Turkey, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
