A high-ranking Turkish delegation is heading to Pakistan to see the rescue work in the flood areas.

Turkish sources said that the delegation is headed by Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu, the Environment, Urban Development and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum.

The Turkish delegation includes the head of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, Yunus Sezer, the head of the Housing Corporation, Omar Bulut, and representatives of civil society organizations.

It is expected that the Turkish delegation will be briefed on the extent of the damage in areas hit by floods due to heavy monsoon rains, in order to set the relief agenda accordingly.

And last Monday, the Pakistani authorities announced that the death toll from the floods sweeping the country had risen to 1,138 dead and 1,634 injured.

More than 3,451 km of roads, 162 bridges, 170 shops and 949,858 homes were damaged across the country, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
