An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Izmir, the western Turkey.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) said in a statement on Tuesday that the earthquake occurred at 07:00 (3 GMT) in the Urla region.

It added that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 3.97 kilometers under the sea and 56.18 kilometers from the Urla region.
The governor of Izmir Yavuz Koçgar said in a statement that the earthquake did not result in any injuries or material losses.
