Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Thursday that his country aims to develop its relations with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday that Çavuşoğlu participated via the Internet in the sectoral dialogue partnership meeting between Turkey and the Association of “ASEAN”.
The statement added that the meeting was attended by Iwan Bhein Yusuf, the second foreign minister of Brunei, the chairwoman of the current session of the association, and the secretary-general of the association, Lim Jok Hui.
He explained that during the meeting, Çavuşoğlu valued ASEAN’s rising position in the world, stressing that changes in the global supply chain have increased the importance of the association.
He said that Turkey aims to develop its relations with ASEAN countries, with the possibility of holding joint sessions between Turkey and the Association within the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum in the future.

The first edition of which was held last June in Antalya, southern Turkey, according to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a tweet on his Twitter account, Çavuşoğlu said that he discussed opportunities for cooperation with ASEAN in the future.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an economic organization founded in 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand.
It includes 10 countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Burma (Myanmar), and Cambodia.
