Turkey offered its condolences to Lebanon for the victims of a fuel tank explosion in the Akkar district.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday that it had received with great sadness the news of the killing of 22 people (the toll rose to 28), and the injury of many people as a result of the explosion of a fuel tank in Akkar district, northern Lebanon.
It added, “We ask God to have mercy on those who lost their lives in this tragic incident, and we extend our condolences to the friendly and brotherly people of Lebanon.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
And earlier on Sunday, an official at the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the number of victims of the Akkar (North) explosion had risen to 28 dead and more than 79 wounded.

The explosion occurred in a hidden tank containing thousands of liters of gasoline after it was discovered by a group of young men in the area, and citizens rushed to fill it with fuel, according to local media.
Since Saturday, several Lebanese regions have witnessed security raids on fuel stations and tanks whose owners hide fuels (gasoline and diesel) to monopolize and sell them at high prices.
