Operations to extinguish forest fires continue in Turkey

Efforts to extinguish forest fires are continuing in several states in Turkey, with the participation of thousands of firefighters and dozens of planes and helicopters.

Four ministers held a press conference at the Fire Suppression Management Center of Manavgat District of Antalya State on Friday.

They are Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bakir Pakdemirli, Minister of Foreign Affairs mevlüt çavuşoğlu, Minister of Environment and Urban Planning Murat Korum, and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu.

Pakdemirli said that efforts are continuing intensively to put out the fires in all areas where forest fires are occurring in the country.

He explained that the firefighting teams have controlled the fires in 57 locations, while efforts are still being made in other areas.

He indicated that 3 planes, nine drones, 38 helicopters, 680 firefighting vehicles, 55 motorized vehicles, and other equipment were participating in the extinguishing operations, in addition to four thousand firefighters.

Forest fires broke out in several Turkish states in the south and southwest of the country, including Antalya, Adana, Mugla, and Mersin.

As of Thursday evening, forest fires in Turkey had killed four people, and injured dozens, while the Turkish authorities mobilized all their capabilities to put out the fires.
