Turkish coast guard teams rescued 164 irregular migrants off the coast of the western states of Izmir and Aydin.

A statement issued by the Turkish Coast Guard Command said on Saturday that its teams received a distress call from a group of migrants and headed to the coast of Cesme district in Izmir to rescue them.

The statement indicated that the teams rescued 50 migrants who were on board a rubber boat whose engine had failed.

The statement indicated that in another incident, the Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 56 migrants who were pushed by the Greek Coast Guard towards Turkish territorial waters off the coast of the Turkish Dikili district.

In the western state of Aydin, Turkish coast guard teams rescued 45 migrants from the sea after the engine of their boat failed off the coast of Didim district.

In the same state, the coast guard rescued 13 migrants whose boat was pushed by the Greek coast guard towards Turkish territorial waters

The statement pointed out that the irregular migrants were referred to the Directorate of Immigration in the two states, after completing the necessary legal procedures against them.
