149 Afghan migrants caught in a truck in eastern Turkey


Turkey’s eastern Bitlis province announced on Friday that 149 Afghan migrants had been caught in the trunk of a truck.

The state said in a statement that the gendarmerie forces searched yesterday, Thursday, a truck on the road between Bitlis and the town of Baigan.


She added that the gendarmerie forces arrested 149 Afghan immigrants in the trunk of the truck, and it was found that they had entered Turkey illegally.

It confirmed the arrest of the truck driver and his transfer to the Justice Palace, where the Public Prosecution ordered his detention pending investigation and the transfer of the migrants to the Directorate of Immigration in the state.
