In recent weeks, with the accelerated withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, which will be completed by September, the issue of security at Kabul airport by Turkey has become one of the most important issues in Afghanistan.

Turkey has said it will do so with its 500 troops in Afghanistan and will not send any new troops to Afghanistan.

An annual cost of between $80 million and $120 million is spent on securing Kabul airport, which is what Turkey has demanded in exchange for airport protection.
