Unemployment in Turkey rose slightly to 10.2 percent in October

The unemployment rate in the Turkish market rose slightly to 10.2 percent at the end of last October, up from 10.1 percent in the previous month.

This came according to the monthly report of the labor market in Turkey issued by the Turkish Statistics Authority on Monday, which presents the numbers and percentages of the unemployed in the country on a monthly basis.

The report stated that the number of unemployed persons in the local market during October increased by 57 thousand individuals compared to the previous month, bringing the total number of unemployed individuals to 3.53 million individuals.

The unemployment rate for males over the age of 15 in the Turkish market was 8.6 percent, while for females it was 13.3 percent.

Despite the increase in the number of unemployed individuals, the number of employed people increased in October by 229,000 to 31.2 million employed.

By the end of October, the total number of the labor force (employed and unemployed) was 34.73 million.

Turkey succeeded in reducing unemployment rates within the local market during the months following the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, with the expansion of business activities and the return of momentum to foreign investment flows.
