Turkish Red Crescent provides relief to flood-affected people in Pakistan

The aid of the Turkish Red Crescent Society arrived on Sunday in the areas affected by the floods in Pakistan.

The Turkish Red Crescent said in a statement that the aid sent to the affected areas includes food, detergents and basic living necessities.

The statement added that the dispatched aid will be distributed in coordination with the Pakistan Red Crescent.

The statement indicated that the association is currently planning to establish mobile hospitals to provide medical services to those affected by the floods.

Pakistan declared at dawn on Friday a “national emergency” due to floods and monsoon rains.

The National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan said Sunday that the death toll from rains and floods that began in mid-June has reached 1,033 people.

The floods also caused the death of about 720,000 head of livestock and the evacuation of about half a million people to temporary shelters, according to the Pakistani Geo News channel.
