Turkish Ministry of Defense: Neutralizing 20 terrorists

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that the number of neutralized terrorists had risen to 20 from the PKK organization in northern Iraq and Syria.

According to the Turkish Defense statement, the operation to target terrorist nests comes in response to the martyrdom of 9 Turkish soldiers.

This occurred during clashes with terrorists as they attempted to infiltrate a Turkish base in northern Iraq in the area of Operation “Claw – Al-Qafl.”

The statement indicated that the operation involved aircraft and with fire support from ground forces.

Earlier, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced the destruction of 29 terrorist targets, including hideouts, shelters and oil facilities for terrorists.

They were in the areas of Harkuk, Gara, and the Qandil Mountains in northern Iraq, in addition to targets for terrorists in northern Syria.

The PKK is a terrorist organization active in several countries in the region, including Syria, Iraq, and Iran, and Turkey is combating it in response to attacks it launches against its citizens and forces.

On April 17, 2022, Turkey launched Operation Claw-Lock against the strongholds of the PKK terrorist organization in the areas of Matina, Al-Zab, and Afshin-Basyan in northern Iraq.

Turkey is carrying out operations to combat the PKK, which targets its forces and citizens, and is active in several countries in the region, including Syria, Iraq, and Iran.
