Turkish customs seize 286 grams of gold on the Syrian border

On Saturday, the security authorities seized 286 grams of gold in the possession of a person at the crossing of the Syrian city of “Al-Rai”, opposite the province of Kilis in southern Turkey.

The Directorate of Customs and Foreign Trade in Southern Turkey (GAP) said that the competent authorities at the Al-Rai crossing, in coordination with anti-smuggling and intelligence teams, searched a suspect when crossing from Syria into Turkey.

She added that the teams found in the suspect’s possession 286 grams of 21 karat gold.

She added that the Public Prosecution Office in Kilis has opened an investigation against the suspect, accused of smuggling gold from Syria to Turkey.
